Anemone x Hybrida

Japanese Anemone 'Honorine Jobert'

Anemone × hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ – A Timeless Late-Season Beauty with Elegant White Blooms

Anemone × hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ is a stunning, classic Japanese anemone that brings grace and brightness to the garden from late summer into autumn. Its pure white, single flowers with golden-yellow centres stand out against deep green foliage, creating an elegant and airy display that sways beautifully in the breeze. This award-winning variety is perfect for adding height, movement, and fresh colour to borders when many other plants begin to fade. Resilient, long-lived, and easy to grow, ‘Honorine Jobert’ is a must-have for extending the flowering season and attracting pollinators.

Why Grow Anemone × hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’?

Pure White Blooms – Crisp, snow-white flowers with bright yellow centres provide a luminous contrast in late-season borders.

Graceful, Airy Growth – Tall, slender stems add height and movement, making it perfect for softening the edges of planting schemes.

Pollinator-Friendly – A late-season nectar source for bees and butterflies, supporting wildlife when other flowers are fading.

Hardy & Low-Maintenance – Fully hardy in the UK, ‘Honorine Jobert’ thrives with minimal care and returns year after year.

Long-Lived & Spreading – Forms attractive clumps of deep green foliage, slowly naturalising and filling gaps in the garden.

Planting & Care Guide

Position – Prefers full sun to partial shade, making it highly versatile for borders, woodland gardens, and mixed plantings.

Soil – Best in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It adapts to most soil types but dislikes very dry or waterlogged conditions.

Watering – Water regularly when newly planted. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from consistent moisture.

Maintenance:

  • Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering and keep plants looking tidy.
  • Cut back stems in late autumn after flowering for a neat winter garden.
  • Mulch in winter to protect young plants and encourage strong growth in spring.
  • Divide clumps every few years to maintain vigour and prevent overcrowding.

Perfect Plant Combinations

Anemone ‘Honorine Jobert’ pairs beautifully with other late-season perennials such as Asters, Sedum, and Rudbeckia, creating a striking autumn display. It also works well alongside ornamental grasses like Stipa or Miscanthus, where its delicate blooms contrast with the soft, flowing textures. For a romantic, cottage-garden look, combine with Echinacea, Salvia, and Verbena bonariensis, or plant beneath shrubs like Hydrangea for a layered, elegant effect.
