Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is a popular evergreen shrub known for its glossy, dark green leaves and dense growth. It is ideal for creating thick, privacy-providing hedges or as an attractive feature plant in the garden.

Cherry Laurel makes excellent hedges due to its rapid growth and dense foliage, offering effective screening. It is low maintenance and quickly forms a lush barrier with minimal effort.

Cherry Laurel Hedging - Cherry Laurel is a robust shrub with broad, glossy leaves that create a dense, evergreen screen. It’s perfect for tall, lush hedges that provide privacy and protection.

Cherry Laurel thrives in moist, well-drained soil and can be planted in both full sun and partial shade. We always cut back by a third as well to help them get away. If you plant them in wet slop then kiss your money goodbye, they like free draining soil while they are getting established

Grows easily in all soils except waterlogged. Feed well to maintain that lush colour.

Where Should I Site My Cherry Laurel Hedging?

The best times to plant Cherry Laurel are in spring or autumn, although pot-grown laurels can be planted year-round. To ease the watering process during hot weather, consider investing in a leaky hose. When planting, dig a hole that is both deep and wide enough for the root ball, ensuring the root collar (where the trunk meets the roots) remains above the soil level. After positioning the plant, fill the hole with soil and gently tamp it down to remove air pockets.

Cherry Laurels are adaptable to various conditions, including full sun, partial shade, and different soil types, making them versatile for many garden settings.

Watering

Water the plant thoroughly to settle the soil and ensure the roots receive adequate moisture. Applying a 2–3-inch layer of mulch around the base will help regulate soil temperature and promote healthy growth.

Although Cherry Laurels are quite hardy, regular watering is crucial during their first few years, especially during dry spells. Water once a week and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases.

Growth & Pruning

Cherry Laurels can grow up to 60 cm per year, making them a fast-growing option for creating a privacy hedge quickly. They may need trimming several times a year due to their rapid growth. Trim to maintain the desired shape and size using sharp, clean shears, and avoid removing more than one-third of the plant’s growth each year to ensure healthy development.

No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description

will require a flat hard surface to deliver to, no gravel or soil, a
driveway or parking spot would be best. Most importantly Deliveries by
pallet courier will require access for a large truck (bin lorry sized)
to get near the delivery point. Deliveries sent on our own transport may come in a small van or larger truck.
