Bamboo brings a touch of elegance to gardens or any space, with its gently swaying canes and lush, green or yellow foliage, making it ideal for creating screens, borders, or serving as a striking focal point.

Fargesia Murielae 'Winter Joy' is a robust, non-invasive bamboo celebrated for blue-green culms growing upright then gently cascading giving an attractive fountain-shaped. Paired with dense, soft green leaves, it adds a beautiful texture to any garden setting. 

Perfect for hedging or as a stand-alone feature, this bamboo can grow up to 3-4 metres in height.

To cultivate Fargesia Murielae 'Winter Joy', plant it in fertile, moisture-retentive soil with access to sun or partial shade, while ensuring protection from cold, drying winds. When grown in pots, regular feeding and watering are essential for its upkeep.

Fargesia Murielae 'Winter Joy' is an appealing evergreen Bamboo with blue-green canes that grow upright before gracefully cascading into a fountain shape.  

Where should I site my Fargesia? 

Like many Fargesia this is an adaptable Bamboo tolerant of a range of conditions, but I would suggest for the most beautiful effect plant in a sheltered location from full sun to dappled shade in fertile soil. Make sure the plant is in moisture retentive soil but also soil that is drainable as bamboo does not like waterlogged conditions.  

Consider investing in a soaker hose to help keep your plants well-watered without having to think about it, especially during hotter weather.

Growth and pruning  

Fargesia, commonly known as Chinese Fountain Bamboo, grows more slowly than Phyllostachys but forms dense clumps and remains dwarf, reaching only 2 to 3 meters in height. Ideal as a specimen plant or windbreak, it will eventually reach 2 to 3 meters in height and is easier to maintain at a smaller size compared to other bamboos. 

Due to its slower growth rate compared to other bamboo varieties, you may notice that you do not need to prune this style of plant as often. Prune bamboo to keep it manageable and healthy by removing weak, dead, or damaged canes to ground level year-round and clearing debris at the base. To highlight the canes, remove lower foliage by snapping offside branches or cutting them with secateurs. This improves airflow and promotes growth. In spring, yellowing and dropping leaves are normal as new growth appears, though some old leaves may remain attached, turning brown and papery.

No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description

How long does delivery take?

Most orders are delivered in just a few days, Smaller items are often sent with Parcelforce on a next day service, Larger items should allow up to 10 days due to the size of the items they often have to be sent on our own transport.

Where will you leave my plants?

We will leave your order at the front of your property, Parcelforce may
leave your items in a safe place if you let us know, Pallet couriers
will require a flat hard surface to deliver to, no gravel or soil, a
driveway or parking spot would be best. Most importantly Deliveries by
pallet courier will require access for a large truck (bin lorry sized)
to get near the delivery point. Deliveries sent on our own transport may come in a small van or larger truck.
