Taxus Baccata

Yew Cone (Taxus baccata) – 60/70cm | 10 Litre Pot

This Taxus baccata (English Yew) cone, grown to a height of 60–70cm in a 10-litre pot, is a beautifully shaped, evergreen shrub that provides year-round structure and elegance. With its dense, dark green foliage and neat, conical form, it is an excellent choice for formal gardens, borders, and container planting. Hardy and low-maintenance, it brings timeless sophistication to any outdoor space.

Seasonal Beauty & Growth

In spring, fresh soft green shoots emerge, contrasting against the deep green mature foliage. Throughout summer, its rich, evergreen colour adds a refined presence to the garden. In autumn, mature plants may produce small red berries, providing additional interest. During winter, its sculptural form remains strong, offering a striking focal point even in the colder months.

Structure & Form

This expertly shaped Yew Cone reaches 60–70cm in height, maintaining a dense, upright growth habit that requires minimal pruning. Its fine, needle-like leaves create a lush, velvety green texture. Slow-growing and naturally tidy, it retains its structured, conical form, making it ideal for topiary, entranceways, and formal displays.

Perfect for Various Landscapes

This 60/70cm Yew Cone in a 10L pot is perfect for:

  • Formal gardens, where it adds symmetry and elegance.

  • Patios and entranceways, as a sophisticated statement piece in containers.

  • Borders and pathways, offering height and definition.

  • Low hedging, creating sculpted, structured edges.

  • Shade gardens, thriving even in lower light conditions.

Growing Conditions & Care

  • Light: Thrives in full sun to deep shade, making it incredibly versatile.

  • Soil: Prefers moist, well-drained soil, adapting to both alkaline and slightly acidic conditions.

  • Hardiness: Fully hardy and resistant to frost, wind, and urban pollution, making it suitable for a wide range of environments.

  • Maintenance: Requires only occasional light pruning to maintain its shape. Once established, it is highly drought-tolerant, requiring minimal watering.

Why Choose a 60/70cm Yew Cone in a 10L Pot?

  • Instant impact with a professionally shaped, ready-to-plant form.

  • Evergreen structure provides year-round colour and interest.

  • Compact and stylish, ideal for small gardens, patios, and urban spaces.

  • Low-maintenance and long-lived, perfect for formal planting and topiary.

  • Hardy and adaptable, suitable for classic and modern landscapes alike.

Perfect Plant Combinations

Taxus baccata Cones pair beautifully with:

  • Buxus (Box) and Ilex (Holly) for a traditional, structured look.

  • Ornamental grasses for a softer contrast.

  • Lavender and Salvia for seasonal colour and fragrance.

  • Phormium and Agapanthus for dramatic textural interest.
