Betula Ermanii Holland

Erman's Birch

Betula also known as Birch - can be a deciduous tree or shrubs, usually colouring well in autumn and often with striking white, pink, or peeling brown bark; separate male and female catkins open before or with the leaves in spring.

Birch trees thrive in full sun and require moist but well-drained soil. In a garden setting it is advised to add a high quality fertiliser when planting such as a tree and shrub compost.

Betula ermanii Holland - Erman Holland - are deciduous, upright, elegant trees that have a natural pyramid crown. This variety is one of the first ones to leaf up in spring, heart shapedngreen folaige that changes to yellow in autumn. The attractive yellow catkins that hang in pendants in spring feed the early rising inscects. Once the foliage has dropped you can then truly appreciate the bark, whitish grey peeling bark that will gradually redden over time. Height can reach 8/12m.

Erman Holland prefer a sunny spot in moist well drained soil , multi purpose fertiliser will be fine. They tolerate pruning should you need to.
