Ilex or holly is a huge family with many different varieties. They can be evergreen shrubs or trees, they differ so much depending on the variety as not all have spikes.

Holly make lovely hedges or nice specimens.

They are very low maintenance as they are slow growing. Hollies like to be planted in moist well drained soil in sun or shade.

Ilex meserveae Heckenfee is a beautiful holly with glossy deep green foliage that though serrated are not sharp. White flowers in spring, as it's a female holly it get's heavily covered with fruit. Grows 20/30cm a year.

Ilex 'Heckenfee' is a charming evergreen holly known for its dense, compact growth and glossy foliage. This variety features rich green leaves with a slightly serrated edge, providing a lush appearance throughout the year. In winter, it produces vibrant red berries that stand out against its dark leaves. 

Where Should I Site My Ilex 'Heckenfee'? 

Plant Ilex 'Heckenfee' in a sunny or partially shaded area with well-drained soil. It adapts well to various soil types, including clay, loam, and sandy soils, as long as they are not waterlogged. For the best foliage density and berry production, choose a spot that offers some protection from strong winds. This holly is ideal for use in garden borders, as a formal hedge, or as a compact feature plant in mixed beds. 

Growth and Pruning 

Ilex 'Heckenfee' is a slow to moderate-growing shrub that typically reaches a height of 1.5 to 2 meters. Its compact growth habit makes it perfect for low hedges or as a decorative plant. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove any dead or damaged branches and to shape the plant. Regular light pruning throughout the growing season helps maintain its compact form and encourages dense foliage.

Does the height include the pot?

No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description

How long does delivery take?

Most orders are delivered in just a few days, Smaller items are often sent with Parcelforce on a next day service, Larger items should allow up to 10 days due to the size of the items they often have to be sent on our own transport.

Where will you leave my plants?

We will leave your order at the front of your property, Parcelforce may
leave your items in a safe place if you let us know, Pallet couriers
will require a flat hard surface to deliver to, no gravel or soil, a
driveway or parking spot would be best. Most importantly Deliveries by
pallet courier will require access for a large truck (bin lorry sized)
to get near the delivery point. Deliveries sent on our own transport may come in a small van or larger truck.
