Robinia

Robinia Or False Acacia

Robinia trees combine elegance and resilience, making them a versatile choice for UK gardens. Their unique appearance and ease of care ensure they remain a popular option for both novice and experienced gardeners.

  • Robinia trees add height and drama to gardens with their architectural form and cascading flowers.
  • The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, supporting biodiversity.

Where to site your Robinia

  • Perfect for adding height, structure, and seasonal interest.
  • Hardy and able to tolerate poor soil, drought, and urban pollution.
  • Attracts pollinators, enhancing biodiversity in the garden.
  • Offers quick growth for privacy, shade, or focal points.

How to grow your Robinia

These specimens grow well in full sun but sheltered from strong winds. They grow in poor soil and can tolerate dry conditions once they are established.

Once established they don’t require much maintenance, a general fertiliser in spring around the roots.

In late summer / early autumn a light prune of any damaged branches that have been caused and remove any suckers where necessary.
