Taxus baccata

Yew Cone

Yew Cone (Taxus baccata) – 70/80cm | 10 Litre Pot

This Taxus baccata (English Yew) cone, grown to a height of 70–80cm in a 10-litre pot, is a beautifully shaped, evergreen shrub that brings elegance and structure to any garden. With its dense, dark green foliage and naturally upright, conical form, it offers a timeless, low-maintenance solution for formal gardens, borders, and container planting.

Seasonal Beauty & Growth

In spring, fresh soft green growth emerges, adding a subtle contrast against the mature deep green foliage. Throughout summer, its rich evergreen colour provides a refined presence in the landscape. In autumn, mature plants may produce small red berries, adding additional seasonal interest. During winter, its architectural form remains strong, offering a striking focal point even in colder months.

Structure & Form

This expertly shaped Yew Cone reaches 70–80cm in height, maintaining a dense, upright form that requires minimal trimming. Its fine, needle-like leaves create a velvety green texture, adding depth and elegance to any setting. Slow-growing and naturally neat, it retains its structured shape, making it ideal for topiary, entranceways, and formal displays.

Perfect for Various Landscapes

This 70/80cm Yew Cone in a 10L pot is ideal for:

  • Formal gardens, where it adds symmetry and architectural interest.

  • Entranceways and patios, creating a sophisticated statement in containers.

  • Borders and pathways, offering vertical structure and definition.

  • Low hedging, forming elegant, sculpted boundaries.

  • Woodland and shaded gardens, thriving even in low-light conditions.

Growing Conditions & Care

  • Light: Thrives in full sun to deep shade, making it highly adaptable.

  • Soil: Prefers moist, well-drained soil, tolerating both alkaline and slightly acidic conditions.

  • Hardiness: Fully hardy, resistant to frost, wind, and urban pollution, making it suitable for various climates.

  • Maintenance: Requires only occasional pruning to maintain its conical shape. Once established, it is drought-tolerant, needing minimal watering.

Why Choose a 70/80cm Yew Cone in a 10L Pot?

  • Instant impact with a precisely shaped, ready-to-plant conical form.

  • Evergreen structure ensures year-round colour and interest.

  • Compact yet striking, fitting well into small gardens, patios, and urban spaces.

  • Low-maintenance and long-lived, perfect for structured designs.

  • Hardy and adaptable, thriving in both classic and modern landscapes.

Perfect Plant Combinations

Taxus baccata Cones pair beautifully with:

  • Buxus (Box) and Ilex (Holly) for a classic, structured look.

  • Ornamental grasses to contrast with its crisp, formal shape.

  • Lavender and Salvia for seasonal colour and fragrance.

  • Phormium and Agapanthus for dramatic texture and movement.

With its refined structure, easy-care nature, and timeless appeal, this 70/80cm Yew Cone in a 10-litre pot is an excellent choice for gardeners looking to add sophisticated, year-round greenery to their outdoor spaces.
