Kolkwitzia amabilis 'Pink Cloud' is an excellent choice for UK gardeners seeking a beautiful, low-maintenance shrub that offers stunning pink blooms and lush foliage. Its adaptability, graceful growth habit, and long blooming period make it a standout in any garden. Whether used in mixed borders, as a specimen plant, or in cottage gardens, Pink Cloud Beautybush adds beauty and charm from late spring through early summer, making it a beloved addition to any landscape.

Here’s a detailed overview of Kolkwitzia 'Pink Cloud':

  • Leaves: The leaves are oval, green, and slightly serrated, providing a lush backdrop for the striking flowers. In the fall, the foliage may turn yellow, adding seasonal interest to the landscape.
  • Bloom Time: Pink Cloud typically blooms from late spring to early summer (May to June), providing a vibrant floral display. The flowers are tubular, bell-shaped, and pale pink, often with darker pink markings. They grow in clusters, creating a delightful show of color. The blooms are mildly fragrant, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
  • Height and Spread: Kolkwitzia 'Pink Cloud' typically grows to a height of about 1.5 to 2.5 meters and spreads about 1.5 to 2 meters wide.

Pink Cloud prefers well-drained, fertile soils. It can thrive in a variety of soil types, including loam, clay, and sandy soils. This shrub thrives in full sun but can also tolerate partial shade. Pruning should be done after flowering to maintain shape and remove any dead or damaged wood. This will encourage healthy new growth and future blooms. Light shaping can be performed to enhance the shrub's natural form.
