Super chunky fargesia.  If the facts are to be believed it can get quite tall, but we have always found it to be short and compact. Perhaps we have it mis labelled, but they are super chunky little plants in large pots that are as wide as they are tall. Perhaps try growing them in horse manure and you might have a taller plant. They are ready for a new home so we are getting rid. Only about 60cm tall but about 90cm wide.

This particular Fargesia is known for its robust, chunky growth. While it is reputed to reach significant heights, our experience has shown it to be more compact and shorter in stature. There is a possibility that it may be mislabelled. Nevertheless, these plants are notably dense and come in large pots with dimensions roughly equal in width and height.

For optimal growth, consider experimenting with horse manure as a growing medium, which may enhance their height. Currently, these plants are approximately 60 cm tall and 90 cm wide and are available for relocation. We are offering them at this time as we prepare them for new homes.

Bamboo Fargesia Robusta Formidable is an ornamental plant with numerous advantages. Native to Asia, this non-spreading bamboo is renowned for its graceful appearance. It can achieve heights of up to 4 meters and spread 2 meters within a few years, making it an ideal choice for crafting a screening hedge, whether left natural or neatly trimmed, in your garden. It has pale green foliage against green/pale brown canes.  

Where should I site my Fargesia? 

Fargesia Robusta Formidable is adaptable and tolerates a range of conditions. To grow this bamboo, plant it in fertile, moisture-retentive yet well-draining soil in sun or partial shade, and protect it from cold, drying winds. For potted plants, ensure regular feeding and watering, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. 

Consider investing in a soaker hose to help keep your plants well-watered without having to think about it, especially during hotter weather.

Growth and pruning 

Fargesia requires less frequent pruning. To keep it healthy and manageable, remove weak, dead, or damaged canes down to ground level throughout the year and clear debris from the base. Enhance the appearance of the canes by removing lower foliage, either by snapping off side branches or cutting them with secateurs. This improves airflow and promotes growth. In spring, yellowing and dropping of leaves are normal as new growth emerges, though some old leaves may remain attached and turn brown and papery.

No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description

How long does delivery take?

Most orders are delivered in just a few days, Smaller items are often sent with Parcelforce on a next day service, Larger items should allow up to 10 days due to the size of the items they often have to be sent on our own transport.

Where will you leave my plants?

We will leave your order at the front of your property, Parcelforce may
leave your items in a safe place if you let us know, Pallet couriers
will require a flat hard surface to deliver to, no gravel or soil, a
driveway or parking spot would be best. Most importantly Deliveries by
pallet courier will require access for a large truck (bin lorry sized)
to get near the delivery point. Deliveries sent on our own transport may come in a small van or larger truck.
