Planting & Care Guide
-
Position – Prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Ideal for sheltered locations, it also grows well in containers and as a border plant.
-
Soil – Bay Laurel thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil, and it does best in slightly alkaline conditions, though it adapts well to most soils.
-
Watering – Water regularly when newly planted to establish strong roots. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant but appreciates occasional watering during dry spells.
-
Maintenance:
- Prune in late spring to shape and promote bushy growth.
- Remove any damaged or dead leaves as needed to keep the plant healthy.
- Bay Laurel grows slowly, so pruning is minimal, and it holds its form well over time.
Perfect Plant Combinations Bay Laurel looks stunning when paired with other Mediterranean herbs like Thyme, Rosemary, and Sage. It’s an excellent addition to herb gardens, where it complements other fragrant plants.
