Planting & Care Guide
Position: Prefers full sun to partial shade, making it versatile for sunny borders or lightly shaded areas. It thrives in warm, sunny spots but can tolerate some shade during the hottest parts of the day.
Soil: Best in well-drained soil, including sandy or gravelly soils. It is tolerant of dry conditions once established, but will perform best with consistent moisture during its growing season.
Watering: Water regularly when newly planted, but once established, Achillea ‘Paprika’ is drought-tolerant and requires little maintenance. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent waterlogging.
Maintenance:
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming and to keep the plant tidy throughout the growing season.
- Cut back after flowering to encourage fresh growth and maintain a neat appearance.
- Divide clumps every few years to prevent overcrowding and promote plant vigour.
Perfect Plant Combinations
Achillea ‘Paprika’ pairs beautifully with other bold, warm-toned perennials like Echinacea, Gaillardia, and Coreopsis, creating a fiery, sun-drenched display. For a contrasting look, combine with cooler-toned flowers like Lavender, Salvia, or Nepeta, where the vibrant red and orange tones of ‘Paprika’ will pop against the cooler hues. It also works well with ornamental grasses, such as Miscanthus or Pennisetum, adding texture and movement to your garden design. ‘Paprika’ is ideal for creating dynamic borders, adding a punch of colour to meadows, or as a standout feature in containers.
