Euonymus or Spindle Shrub

They bear cymes of small flowers in late spring or summer, these can be green, white or sometimes even a purple-red colour. On the deciduous varieties of Euonymus these are often grown for their spherical berries which split open to reveal seeds in autumn and winter

Euonymus is the ideal shrub, they can be used as ground cover - minimising the need for weeding, as small hedges, part of a border or even as a specimen shrub. They are great for brightening up any dull spot or just a quick and easy gap filler.

How to Grow and Look After you Euonymus

Spindle shrubs grow in any well-drained. They can grow in shade but to get the best leaf colour then plant in sun to partial sun. Once established they don’t require much watering and can even tolerate drought conditions. You will only need to feed them if grown in a container and then opt for a granular feed. As these shrubs are slow growing they won’t require that much pruning, just a light tidy up to even the shrub out and to improve the appearance.
