Calluna

Calluna or Heather

Are evergreen shrubs which bear bell-shaped flowers in shades of red, pink, purple or white. The flowers bloom in late Summer and can last until November. Calluna leaves are borne in opposite, overlapping pairs which lie flat along the stems. They are normally dark green in colour which then turn slightly purple towards the winter season.

Heathers make excellent pot plants or ground cover helping to minimise the need for weeding whilst brightening up any border.

How To Grow Your Calluna's

They require well-drained, open soil and prefer full sun. Heathers thrive in acidic soil; add Ericaceous compost to give them a helping hand.
